Here’s a nypost.com headline that’s not surprising given what has been done with government largess in the past: “Stimulus checks are being spent on dildos, tigers, guns and stripper poles.”… And here’s another on what some people consider essential, from foxnews.com: “Las Vegas eyes reopening, masks on dealers.”… Politics is maddening to most folks. President Trump is threatening to withhold the USA’s contribution to WHO in protest of its China bias. America has given the organization $893 million while the communist dictatorship has forked over $86 million. WTF!? And now evidence suggests the virus originated in a lab, not an open-air market…

RIP NFL Hall of Fame DE Willie Davis, 85, one of the cornerstones of the Green Bay Packers ‘60’s dynasty. He played college ball at Grambling. The Browns selected him in the 15th round of the 1956 draft, then, two years later, made the huge mistake of trading him to Vince Lombardi for a wide receiver who was soon out of the league. Davis went on to become a two-time Super Bowl champion, a five-time NFL champion, a five-time Pro Bowler, First-team All-Pro five times, Second-team once and, capping it all off, was named to the 1960’s All-Decade Team. He was ranked number 69 on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Football Players. In 1968 he earned an MBA from the University of Chicago. He did TV color commentary in the early ‘70’s, then moved into the business of radio, becoming president of All-Pro Broadcasting. He also served on the board of big companies. (Facts from Wiki) Well done, sir. Here’s the cover of his auto-bio:

The mind often goes off on weird tangents, at least mine does. Recently I got to thinking about a famous catchphrase and wondered if anyone had ever written out, phonetically, the gibberish at the beginning of it. As usual, a Google search turned it up. According to the Porky Pig page at Wiki, he says: “Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th… That’s all, folks!” There are web instructional videos on how to do Porky’s stutter. Not surprisingly, there has been controversy regarding it. Here are two opinions: “Generations of stutterers of all ages have been terrorized by Porky Pig’s stuttering because it was an object of humor — a character flaw.” And: “Is it time for voice actors to stop giving Porky Pig a speech impediment? If they did, then it will imply that stuttering is bad…” Time Warner developed a web page to promote Porky as a positive figure, explaining to children: “Everyone’s unique . . . and th-th-that’s good, folks!”

I just realized that I didn’t spot a single reference yesterday to it being tax day.
