Another year is in the books. Here are some facts about the age I’ve reached: 71 is the 20th prime number (divisible only by the number one or itself). It’s a permutable prime with 17. It’s the sum of three consecutive primes: 19, 23 and 29. It’s the atomic number of lutetium (silvery white metal). It’s the registry of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (1994) is an Austrian movie by Michael Haneke. 71: Into the Fire (2010) is a South Korean film about the Korean War. In the Jason Bourne novels by Robert Ludlum, the department within the CIA which made Bourne and the other super agents is called Treadstone Seventy-One. There are 71 laps in the Austrian, Mexican and Brazilian Grand Prix. SR-71 (named after a U.S. supersonic surveillance aircraft) was an American alternative rock band whose album, Now You See Inside, went gold, powered by the hard driving single Right Now (Mitch Allan/Butch Walker), which I’d never heard till a moment ago. Again Schumer disappears when an issue is tough. Actually it’s not tough. Israel has every right to defend itself. Imagine if DC was under attack.
