Joy Milne of the UK has a rare gift — a heightened olfactory sense. When she noticed a change in her husband’s body odor, a musky smell, she had no idea it was due to the onset of Parkinson’s disease. Now scientist are using her unique skill, and that of others and dogs, in the early detection of the dreaded affliction that attacks a victim’s motor skills. There had never before been a definitive test for it. Hopefully, this will eventually lead to a cure or, at least, better treatment. Life and humans never cease to fascinate.
The world’s largest underwater restaurant will soon open at the southern tip of Norway. Of course, seafood will dominate the menu, but diners will also have the option of tasting seabirds and wild sheep that graze in the archipelago nearby. A full 18-course meal will cost up to $430 American per person, including drinks. Owners hope 12,000 people per year will dine there, and stay at the hotel nearby. Here’s a pic of the entrance:

Yesterday, George W. Bush, 72, had his first ever hole-in-one. Kudos.
Two men snatched a statue of Al Capone from its seat outside the Ohio Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a popular destination for gangsters back in the day. The owner gave chase, and the guys, drunk, dropped it, causing $3500 worth of damage. The would-be thieves were busted for public intoxication and criminal mischief. Duh noive. Here’s a pic:
I wasn’t expecting to sell books today, given the rain, but the area under the scaffold was dry, so I decided to give it a shot. My thanks to the young woman who bought Stephen King’s Firestarter and Skeleton Crew, a short story collection; and to the middle age one who selected More S*hit My Dad Says by Justin Halpern, his follow up to his best seller; and to the elderly one who purchased the last three of my inventory of Russian books. I’ve now sold every one of the 200+ books in Russian Lev donated more than a year ago, and the 30+ I found on the sidewalk a couple of months ago.
