Absurd & Beyond

From a nypost.com op-ed piece by Peter Navarro and Adam Boehler, in my own words: While the policies of Cuomo and de Blasio hamstring businesses in New York, President Trump has signed an executive order that may lead to greater drug production in the USA. Kodak, the legendary camera company based in Rochester, will join Bayer, Fuji, 3M and others that have made the successful transition from fine chemicals to pharmaceuticals. One of the reasons Kodak was selected for a government loan was because its large facilities are conducive to conversion. Don’t expect any coverage of this from the mainstream media. This is the president’s second big move this week regarding the drug industry. I imagine many in the swamp are angry at the disruption of business as usual, the possible drying up of donations. Too bad. If there’s a way to lower prices without driving companies out of business, it must be put into effect.

Here are two interesting headlines from nypost.com: “Face masks are thwarting ‘even the best’ facial recognition systems.” And: “Masks are the new condoms…”

While I understand folks being leery about returning to work, suppose the virus lingers for years?

Here’s an amusing headline from foxnews.com: “Houston drivers not paying tickets make 550,000 ineligible for license renewal.” And another: “Madonna shares same coronavirus video as Trump, Instagram flags.” Strange bedfellows indeed.

Is there a more absurd American figure at present than Jerry Nadler?

Speaking of the absurd, how ‘bout this in a headline at FN: “Washington Post draws backlash over decision to capitalize ‘White.’” I’d noticed that “Black” is now capitalized, which has solved a problem for me in my own writing, as I was never sure how to address it.

The left continues to make the use of hydroxychloroquine controversial when it has helped thousands recover from Corona. It is beyond absurd. It is criminal.

The floating book continues to be swamped with donations. My thanks to Justin, who brought a shopping cart filled with mostly non-fiction, and to the gentleman who walked down from his apartment carrying a heavy load of mostly medical and science journals; and to the lovely young teacher who bought three learners designed for fourth and fifth graders and a book on idioms; and to Wolf, who went to town, leaving with 15 books in Russian.
