The madness continues, from the nypost.com: Sacramento Kings play-by-play announcer Grant Napear was placed on administrative leave by his radio station after tweeting: “All Lives Matter… Every Single One!” He is accused of belittling the Black Lives Matter movement. How radical… George Floyd’s brother has said: “Do this peacefully, please. If I’m not over here blowing up stuff, messing up my community, what are you all doing?”

Scolding white folks and rationalizing rioting and looting is an interesting strategy for a presidential race. I wonder if it will fly or backfire. It may be impossible to gauge given the country’s 50–50 divide, although even leftists fear the turmoil is tipping the race to Trump, as it did to Tricky Dick decades ago. One thing I suspect — all the gains the president made in the black vote because of the historic low unemployment rate among minorities may have been wiped out by Corona.

I wish a credible journalist — if there are any — would secretly interview an Antifa member and ask how he would govern were he in power. I suppose it’s naive to expect an honest answer.

Will NYC Mayor Red Billy DeBlasio finally act against his rioting brethren, fellow travelers? Will Governor Cuomo call in the National Guard? Both men would be acting against their liberal instincts.

And now for something completely different, as the Monty Python crew was fond of saying — my own silly life, which is dwarfed by current events but continues. As I was hanging out beside my car from noon to one, Barry, 72, approached, cradling an 8x11 box to his chest. I asked if he were mailing out the manuscript for his third book on celebrities and heroin. Turns out he was hauling copies of his emails as far back as 2009. He and two other former professors at John Jay College are fighting charges of sexual harassment brought by female students. He said he edited a few that were of a personal nature, exchanged with his girlfriend. I wondered how that would sit with the lawyers of the accused. Wouldn’t they say he was hiding something? He had no answer for that. Instead he asked if I were doing any writing during the lockdown. I said I was working on a novella and that he is in it, one of the many passersby the co-protagonist chats with while selling wares on the street. I didn’t tell him I mention his case. I use only a variation of his last name. Meanwhile, I thought I’d covered everybody that is a significant part of the endeavor, then realized I’d left out Dave and Candy. Damn, I hope there’s nobody else.
