Adam, Kiersten, Van Gogh, Monk
RIP Brooklyn-born actor Adam Rich, 54, who charmed many Americans as a child during his 112-episode run on Eight Is Enough. He made good despite dropping out of high school at 17. VH1 placed him at #73 on a list of 100 Greatest Kid Stars. There are 22 other titles under his name at IMDb, almost all in TV. He appeared in 18 episodes of Code Red and did the voice of Presto the Magician on 27 episodes of Dungeons & Dragons. Cause of death has not been revealed. He struggled in the way many former child actors have. Photo from Google Images:
A win for the good guys, headline from foxnews.com: “Ex-Virginia Tech soccer player allegedly benched for refusing to kneel gets $100K settlement: attorney.” Her name is Kiersten Hening. Kudos, madam. Photo from GI:
Okay, top this FN headline: “Van Gogh, a one-eared dog in desperate need of a new home, ‘paints’ his way to adoption.” Photo from GI:
Common sense in a nypost.com headline: “Black families need fathers — not reparations for slavery.” I expect the author of the accompanying article, Kendall Qualls, to catch a lot of grief from the usual suspects. Kudos, Sir.
NYP headline: “Dozens in Congress beat stock market in 2022 despite worst year on Wall Street since 2008: analysis.” Anyone surprised?
Business was so bad on this crisp, beautiful day that I forced myself to keep the floating book shop open an extra hour, and it paid off. My thanks to Bill Brown, author of Words and Guitar: A History of Lou Reed’s Music and other fine books, who donated six DVDs; and to the gentleman who purchased them all as well as The Ghost by Danielle Steel, and Dreamcatcher and Hearts in Atlantis, both by Stephen King; and to the young man who bought five seasons of the obsessive-compulsive detective Monk, starring Tony Shalhoub.
