After While Crocodile

Just another day in Houston, photo from Google Images:

Harvard hired the worst mayor in NYC history, Bill de Blasio, to teach a class, and now this, headline from nypost.com: “Ousted CNN host Brian Stelter gets media fellowship at Harvard.” He can lead a course on how to achieve the lowest ratings possible. Geez.

Even partisans won’t be surprised by this NYP headline: “Nearly 20% of Congress trades stocks that present conflicts of interest: report.”

Interesting development in the book world highlighted in an article by Charlie McCarthy at newsmax.com: “The New York Times’ bestsellers list appears to be censoring Newsmax host Dick Morris and his new bestseller, “The Return: Trump’s Big 2024 Comeback.” “The Return” is topping several bestseller lists, including Amazon, Publisher’s Weekly, and others, but is nowhere to be found on the Times’ nonfiction list…” Anyone surprised?

This doesn’t surprise me either, headline from NM: “Civics Poll: 1 in 4 Cannot Name a Single Branch of Govt.”

Selective outrage, headline from foxnews.com: “Stacey Abrams praised on ‘The View’ for not conceding election, defends saying she ‘won’ Georgia race in 2018.”

Here’s a term I encountered today for the first time: “Zombie Tree,” one that looks alive on the outside but is dead on the inside — and in danger of breaking no matter how large it is and causing extensive damage.

Speaking of trees, another gem from the Staten Island goombah:

Is this the answer? Headline from foxbusiness.com: “Dutch students create carbon-eating electric vehicle.” The accompanying article from Reuters explains that the emissions will be captured by two filters. “… battery cell production can create so much pollution that it can take EVs tens of thousands of miles to achieve ‘carbon parity’ with comparable fossil-fueled models.” The eggheads hope that one day the “filters can be emptied at charging stations.” Photo from GI:

Not much action at the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to the woman who bought a whole stack of Harlequin romances in Russian, and to local porter Robert, who delivered two large paperbacks; and to Alice, who donated a hardcover; and to all the kind folks who stopped to chat.
