Interesting Supreme Court development, article by Jonathan Turley, foxnews.com: There have been six 9–0 rulings in two weeks. Turley wonders if this is “an implied message from the justices that this is a court that is not nearly as rigid and divided as suggested by Democratic members and activists.”

RIP Chicago-born actress Arlene Golonka, 85, whose career spanned 1959–2005. There are 118 titles under her name at IMDb, mostly of the small screen variety. She did guest shots on many prime time shows, and appeared in 49 episodes of Mayberry R.F.D.. Her most significant film roles are Hang ’em High (1968), playing a prostitute, and as Peter Falk’s wife in The In-Laws (1979). Thank you, madam.

RIP NYC-born actor Robert Hogan, 87, who also had a long career, 1956–2018, mostly in TV. There are 154 titles listed under his name. He did 44 episodes of The Young Marrieds and 63 of Peyton Place, and numerous guest shots on popular fare, including nine as a judge on one of my all-time favorites, the original Law & Order. For his performance as Clarence Darrow in the off-Broadway play Never the Sinner, based on the Leopold & Loeb murder trial of 1924, Hogan was awarded the Outer Critics Circle Award. In a fun bit of trivia, Bernard Fein, a personal friend and co-creator of Hogan’s Heroes, named the title character of the iconic series after him. Thank you, sir.

For the first time in a while the floating book shop ended the day with less weight than at the start. My thanks to the woman who donated three mysteries, the only incoming of the session; and to Ira, who bought The Real James Bond: A True Story of Identity Theft, Avian Intrigue, and Ian Fleming by Jim Wright, and How to Do Everything Right by Bottom Line Personal; and to the woman who loves historical fiction, who purchased America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie; and to the woman who selected a Hillary Clinton bio in Russian (thanks for taking it out of my sight); and to the young mom who chose two paperbacks in that language; and to Lou, just back from a vacation in Florida, who took home Firefox (1982) on DVD. I’ve refused to view it ever since learning its premise. I find it insulting that the USA would have to steal a fighter jet from the Soviets rather than build one that’s better.
