While channel surfing last night I came across a fantastic PBS profile of legendary trumpeter Doc Severinsen, who was with The Tonight Show band for 30 years, leading it for 25. He is in his 90’s. Up until whenever the American Masters doc was filmed, he was still teaching, conducting and performing. I googled his current status and found that he has no gigs scheduled, so maybe time has finally caught up to him. Kudos to this consummate artist and to the producers. The program runs about 75 minutes. I laughed and got misty during the Johnny Carson reminisces.

For those of us who believe CNN is a wing of the Democrat party, it will be hard to top the pleasure derived from this headline from nypost.com: “Protesters chase, toss eggs at CNN crew covering Daunte Wright unrest.” Attacked by those they defend — priceless!

Will this headline from NYP surprise anyone?: “Black Lives Matter activist from Seattle charged with anti-Asian hate crime.” Or this one: “NY Times wants to defund the police — except the one in its lobby.”

Politics in a nutshell in this NYP headline: “Corrupt ex-mayor of NY town running for old seat thanks to state loophole.”

Here’s a discouraging headline from foxnews.com: “Third Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine dose ‘likely’ needed within year, CEO says.” Will it ever end?

In an FN article about the packing of the Supreme Court, Paul Steinhauser breaks down the numbers of a Siena College/NY Times poll: 58% against, 31% for, 11% undecided. Along party lines, Democrats favor 57%-28%, Republicans oppose 89%-6%, independents also oppose, 65%-25%. I’m surprised 28% of Dems oppose, although I am not encouraged by that number because those folks will be powerless. Then again, everyone but the elites on each side will be. More surprising is the 6% of Republicans who favor it. I guess some RINOs are socialists as well.

The only option for the floating book shop on this rainy day was the viaduct on Avenue Y. Alas, the result was what it usually is there — zero.
