All Hallow’s Eve
Wow! Check out this awesome Halloween costume. Photo from Google Images, converted from WBP file to JPG at cloudconvert.com:
Interesting headline from nypost.com: “What lies beneath: Secrets of the 20,000 dead bodies buried under Washington Square Park.” According to the accompanying article by Rikki Schlott: “From 1797 to roughly 1820, the eastern two-thirds of Washington Square Park was a potter’s field, where the bodies of poor and unidentified New Yorkers were unceremoniously dumped in mass graves.”
Caption from NYP: “Neighbors described Paul Pelosi’s suspected attacker David DePape as a homeless addict with politics that was, until recently, left-wing, but of secondary importance to his psychotic and paranoid behavior.” Tough for either the left or right to spin, but don’t put it past the most zealous.
Another “Do as I say, not as I do” headline from the world of politics: “Under the radar: Gov. Hochul’s SUVs are cloaked from traffic cameras.” Is she Romulan or Klingon?
This is why I believe Fetterman will win despite his radicalism and ill health. Headline from newsmax.com: “Nearly 250K Ballots Sent to Pennsylvania Voters With Unverified IDs.”
Headline from foxnews.com certain to irk environmental zealots, who stopped the construction in America: “Poland chooses US to build its first nuclear power plant.”
Finally, decent return for the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to the lady out walking her dog, who bought Mrs. Poe, a novel by Lynn Cullen, and a collection of four erotic novels; and to the gentleman who purchased two titles in Russian, including a translation of The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett; and to Mr. Conspiracy, aka Steve, who took home two instructionals on Chinese; and to the woman who chose Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult and Magic Bites and Magic Burns, both by Ilona Andrews; and to the gentleman who donated a box of mostly sci-fi. Since he told me he played football for Madison H.S. at approximately the same time I did for Lafayette, I gave him a copy of Adjustments, which mentions his wacky head coach and our team’s post game jubilation when we tossed our assistant coach into MHS’s pool, which didn’t go over well with the poor guy who was supervising it that day.
