The facade of the Palais Garnier Opera House in Paris has been transformed into an interpretation of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, conceived by French artist JR using dancers from across Europe. Photograph by Oleg Nikishin/Getty Images/the guardian.com:

Headline from newsmax.com: “House Speaker Begins Posting Jan. 6 Videos Online.” By all means — full disclosure.

World War III? From NM: “War Widens: Israel Targets Iran-Backed Sites in Syria. “

Shocking info in an article by Joe Toppe at foxbusiness.com: “Claiming you didn’t receive a package when you did now costs U.S. merchants and financial institutions over $100 billion a year while becoming another driver for inflationary pressures as businesses offset losses with higher prices… 35% of the 1000 surveyed Americans between the ages of 18 to 77 saying they admit to doing it.” SMH.

Also from FNB: “‘Rage Room’ owners say growing number of customers are engaging in sex acts, ‘intense make-out sessions’.” According to the article by Nikolas Lanum, “guests spend time in a private room smashing various items, such as plates, televisions, radios, tables, and more… wearing protective gear as they slam crowbars, baseball bats and sledgehammers down on fragile objects… Experts suggest there may be a link between feelings of anger and sexual arousal.”

It looked like I would be spending a lot of today’s session of the floating book shop in the car, given the clouds and wind, but the sky cleared, and I stood where the apartment building at the corner of East 13th blocked most of the cold breeze. My thanks to my Constant Benefactress, who bought Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and Daily Life During the Holocaust by Carol D. Schulz and Eve Nussbaum Soumerai; and to the gentleman who purchased three hardcovers in Russian; and to young entrepreneur Gareth, who selected Capital Ideas: The Improbable Origins of Modern Wall Street by Peter L. Bernstein; and to the elderly woman who chose In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner by Elizabeth George.
