Another Day in the USA
In inherently racist America, Dallas Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott has signed a four-year, $160 million contract that includes $126 million guaranteed and a no-trade clause. The deal can reach as high as $164 million with incentives. Take a knee, Dak.
Headline from foxnews.com: “Union tells teachers to hide spring break pictures as they refuse to return to class.”
RIP Rheal Cormier, 53, who succumbed to cancer. He was one of the most successful Canadians to play in MLB. In 16 seasons pitching for five teams, 1991–2007, he was 71–64, ERA 4.03. In 2008 he played for the Canadian national baseball team in the Summer Olympics, the oldest player in the competition at 41. In 2012 he was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Well done, sir.
Speedy Gonzalez and Pepe Le Pew are now on the cancel culture hit list. Isn’t that xenophobia?
It was so mild today the breeze was negated. My thanks to the home attendant of the Braniac brothers, who dropped off a valuable stack of non-fiction, and to my constant benefactress, who did the same; and to the guy the pulled up in an SUV as I was packing up and dropped off a couple of bags of books; and to Jeff, aka Political Man, who donated a Jim Reeves CD; and to the kind folks who made purchases. Here’s some of what sold: three books in Russian, an illustrated edition of Aesop’s Fables, Sanctuary by Nora Roberts, Billion Dollar Funds by Norman Fosback, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin LeFevre, Who Owns the Future? by Jaron Lanier, Ask Not: The Inauguration of John F. Kennedy and the Speech That Changed America by Thurston Clarke, and Dinotopia, A Land Apart from Time by James Gurney. All that was great, but the highlight of the session was seeing The Lady Eve, who fractured her kneecap six weeks ago and ventured out for the first time, left leg in a brace, cane in hand. She has no idea what caused her fall. Fortunately, a young couple helped her… Good news also from Nina, aka Big Red, who works in the beauty shop across the street and says business has gotten a lot better.
