RIP consummate character actor Burt Young, 83. Born Gerald Tommaso DeLouise in Queens, he served in the Marines from 1957-’59, boxing, winning 32 of 34 bouts. There are 170 titles under his name at IMDb, career spanning 1969–2021. His most famous role came in the first Rocky (1976), for which he was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar, and which he reprised in several other flicks in the series. Other notable roles: Across 110th Street (1972), Chinatown (1974), The Gambler (1974) Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989). On TV he made appearances on Law & Order and SVU, The Sopranos, Tales from the Crypt, The Equalizer, The Rockford Files, Baretta, Little House on the Prairie, and many other prime time shows. He has three credits as a writer in TV. He wrote several novels, including an adaptation of Rocky Balboa, and two plays: SOS and A Letter to Alicia and the New York City Government from a Man With a Bullet in His Head. He was also an artist, his work displayed in galleries worldwide. A widow since 1974, he was a father of one. Well done, Goombah. Facts also from Wiki, photos from Google Images:

It will be tough to top this pic in today’s news. From nypost.com: “Hamburglar: Bear caught crashing family BBQ, feasting on 10 burgers and Diet Coke.” Photo from GI:

A return of common sense. From NYP: “Bringing sexy back: Victoria’s Secret ditches prioritizing wokeness over ‘sexiness’ after sales drop.” YAY!

Headline from foxnews.com: “Arkansas Gov. Sanders mandates government use gender-specific terms.” Great but sad that it has to be done in the first place.

It looked like the floating book shop was going to suffer its first goose egg in a long time when the Latino restaurant worker who has bailed me out so many times came along. He bought a Russian DVD, a collection of patriotic songs from Reader’s Digest, a Life magazine special edition on 100 People Who Changed the World, a Nat Geo on Cleopatra, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013) on DVD. I am blessed. Thank you, Amigo.
