Bear with Me

Here’s what stood out in today’s NY Post: An Indonesian couple has name its newborn Google. Maybe we should be surprised only that this hadn’t happened sooner… All 53 8th graders at a Bronx charter middle school passed the algebra final exam — and most were minorities… Since taxes are so high and regulations so strict in their homeland, Norwegian entrepreneurs are opening businesses in NYC. Imagine someone thinking the city is a tax haven… Five Arizona cops were asked to leave a Starbucks because a customer was uncomfortable in their presence. It’s despicable. Is it even legal?

If you have a gift for mechanics and/or electrical tinkering, there are many videos at youtube that instruct on how to get free internet. Although the procedures do not appear sophisticated, I’m completely inept in such matters. I’m tempted to ask a certain someone I expect would have no problem with it. Is it stealing, what’s called “theft of services”? No specific ISP is involved. I really don’t know.

Here’s a headline from foxnews.com: “Biracial rapper pulls out of festival after learning white people charged $10 more than people of color.” Kudos to Jillian Graham, stage name Tiny Jag. Her grandma is white.

Also from Fox: How was this car damaged? Answer below:

A bear broke into it and apparently butt-shifted it into neutral. It then rolled backward out of the driveway and about 100 feet downhill, swiping a tree along the way.

Not much activity at the floating book shop today. I wasn’t able to relax, as the threat of a brief shower was possible the entire three-hour session. My thanks to the woman who bought a Russian translation of one of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series, and to the mom who called her cranky sophomore-to-be daughter and pumped her about what regents she would be taking next year. She left with Barrons regents exam books on Geometry, English and Global History.
