Big Pot

Info from an editorial at nypost.com: Taiwan is the world’s top maker of computer chips and semiconductors. One of many reasons China wishes to swallow it.

I find the term describing the marijuana industry, “Big Pot,” amusing. Here are snippets from an NYP article by Kevin Sabet: “…there are currently billions of dollars sitting on the sidelines, waiting to be invested into the pot industry by major investment firms, hedge funds, pension systems and other major corporate interests… Altria, the maker of Marlboros, invested $2 billion in Cronos, a Canadian weed company, while Constellation Brands, a large alcohol conglomerate, pumped $245 million into another Canadian marijuana company, Canopy Growth.” It’s just a matter of time before it happens here. It’s a cash cow most pols will be unable to resist.

Is any more evidence required to prove that Academia is an arm of the left? Here’s some from a foxnews.com headline about the opposite coast: “Washington school bans pro-police flag, claims it’s ‘political,’ but permits BLM and LGBT messages.”

More incentive for people to jump the line to get into the USA, headline from foxbusines.com: “House Dems’ $3.5T spending bill includes free community college for illegal immigrants.” Here’s the final line of the accompanying article by Houston Keene: “… 14 states already give financial aid and in-state tuition to illegal immigrants who meet certain conditions.”

Windy City scorecard, headline from FN: “Chicago weekend violence leaves 8 murdered, over 60 shot, including paramedic grazed, officer struck by bullets.” And in the City of Brotherly Love, four killed, ten wounded, 400 dead so far in 2021. And in sunny California: “Restaurant bans all minors after string of bad incidents involving drugs and destruction.” Am I merely cherry-picking, seeking a trend because of liberal rule, or is violence in America really proliferating? Stats seem to indicate a major uptick, especially in areas run by Dems.

Another day of spectacular weather and a good return for the floating book shop. My thanks to the lady library volunteers who delivered a bunch of primo books, and to my constant benefactress, who donated five classical CDs; and to Lou, who bought two more DVDs; and to the business-minded Gareth, who took home a huge accounting textbook, Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build Competitive Advantage by Daniel C. Esty and Andrew Winston, and Unbalanced: The Codependency of America and China by Stephen Roach; and to the woman who purchased four books in Russian; and to Ira, a retired tailor who — if ever there was a name on one of my regular customer’s books — beamed as he saw the massive Beyond Design: The Synergy of Apparel Product Development by Myrna B. Garner and Sandra Keiser.
