Big Stuff

I spotted only two news items that stood out today. Most of the rest was politics as usual.

Headline from nypost.com: “Items from Capitol riot will end up in the Smithsonian.” Is it me, or does this diminish what went down?

From newsmax.com: “A Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps baseball trading card has sold for a record $5.2 million at auction, $1 million more than the previous record for a baseball card…”

I almost gave up on running the book shop today. It was raw and seemed like it would rain any minute. Since I’d landed the most favorable parking spot and was able to sit in the car while waiting for customers, I decided to give it a shot. I put out only the most marketable stuff, about 20% of the wares. Since I expected precipitation, I didn’t put out my own books, which always makes it feel like a lost day. I sold only three, but each was large. My thanks to the gentleman who bought the pictorial in Russian, and to the one who purchased the AP Bio guide; and to Romania-born artist Andu, who took home the massive Anatomy and Physiology textbook. Not a lot of money, but a lot of weight off my hands.
