Blame Games & More
Let’s start with a positive. Headline from nypost.com: “Ohio couple with same birthday give birth to twins — on their birthday.” Welcome to the great adventure. Photo from Google Images:
The following is unsurprising, given that some folks blame guns for shooting deaths. Excerpt from an article by Bailee Hill at foxnews.com: “Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing backlash after filing suit against Kia and Hyundai over claims they manufactured cars that lacked appropriate anti-theft measures, ultimately leading to a surge in car crimes.” Vehicle thefts in the Windy City have risen more than 100% since last year. A change of leftist leaders is not change.
I’ve rethought my belief that Trump is the only Republican who can win the presidency. It seems many Dems are suffering Biden-fatigue and would stay home on Election Da y— if he were running against anyone other than DT. Still, it’s hard to imagine a conservative like DeSantis winning a national election, despite his stellar qualifications, especially given his weak campaign skulls. And then there’s the matter of vote-counting, which is clearly in the Dems favor. Meanwhile, headline from newsmax.com: “Trump to GOP: ‘Impeach the Bum or Fade Into Oblivion’.”
Remember supermodel Claudia Schiffer? She’s 53, married since 2002, a mom of three. Photo from Google Images:
I am not a fan of soccer, and I no longer blog about current pro sports heroics because of the cave to PC and virtue signaling. New lows are reached constantly. The controversy surrounding the soccer exec who spontaneously kissed one of the players on Spain’s female world championship team is beyond absurd. I wonder if the outrage would have been as fierce had he kissed a male. Photo from GI. If it angers you, seek professional help immediately.
The floating book shop was characterized by the return of one of my best customers, who was on a cruise of the Caribbean with his family, and two men who first hit the liquor store across the street. My thanks to Tanya, who donated several pictorials and a hardcover novel, and to Herbie, who bought Sins of the Flesh by Fern Michaels; and to Wolf, who purchased four books in Russian, The Usborne Encyclopedia of Ancient Greece by Jane Chisholm, and a hardcover on baseball barnstorming… Pint bottle of booze in his pants pocket, Frankie stopped by and said he will begin a two-to-three year prison stretch in January. I didn’t ask for details. He said it isn’t his “first rodeo.” I wonder if he will drop the 100+ pounds he needs to lose, if he lives that long. He buys booze every day at noon. Later, a young man offered me a hit from an uncorked bottle of what looked like vodka. He was a bit cavalier while questioning me about the books, asking if they were stolen. Given the state of the world, I wonder if I should take to drink myself. Such encounters are a bonus to the main endeavor.
