RIP Bo Hopkins, 82, ubiquitous screen presence whose career spanned 1966–2020. Born in South Carolina, he enlisted in the Army at 16, then decided to give acting a shot. Surprisingly, there are “only” 131 titles under his name at IMDb. The first three years of his career were spent almost exclusively in TV. He then landed a role in the seminal western The Wild Bunch (1969) and became a mainstay on the big screen. Here are other notable films in which he appeared: The Getaway (1972), American Graffiti (1973), The Killer Elite (1975), Midnight Express (1978), U Turn (1997). He also did 18 episodes of Dynasty. He is a dad of two. Well done, sir. Thank you.

Shocking headline from nypost.com: “Comrades in arms: Russian soldier death toll reaches 30,000 in Ukraine war.” Lives wasted by Vlad the enforcer.

From NYP: “Kid ‘n Pay: 12-year-old golf phenom lands major NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal.” This is Xavier Perez:

From an NYP article by Rikki Schlott, edited by yours truly: Meet Bud Smith, a 40-year-old Jersey construction worker who writes in his spare time, often on his Iphone. He has three novels in print, the third, Teenager, published by a major house, Vintage Books. He describes it as a “ Bonnie and Clyde-esque teenage love story.” Kudos and best of luck, sir.

Disturbing news out of Florida, headline from foxnews.com: “10-year-old boy arrested for alleged text threatening mass shooting.”

Sounds like this man is on the right track, FN headline: “Baltimore police commissioner blames ‘total disregard for human life’ for rampant violence.” Mental health specialists must find a way to find out why and address it.

Gorgeous day to sell wares in the sunshine, just short of being too warm, nice breeze. My thanks to the young man who donated three books, and to the gentleman who did a swap and buy of Russian titles; and to Mr. Conspiracy, aka Steve, who purchased something right up his alley, The New Hate: A History of Fear and Loathing on the Populist Right by Arthur Goldwag; and to the couple who opted for three mysteries: Mitigating Circumstances by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg, and The People Next Door and Someone We Know by Shari La Pena; and to the couple who selected two kids’ books for their little girl, one of them:
