A simple, perhaps trite and/or erroneous thought, no doubt triggered by a novel I’m reading, came to me regarding the popularity of the literary mystery genre. They are almost always solved, unlike life’s important questions, which follow folks to the grave unanswered. I wonder if I’ve heard this elsewhere.

The left will probably get its way, as it usually does in the long run, but it’s been fascinating to observe its deceit and maneuvering.

I’m not a fan of bicycle racing, but many of the pictures from the Tour de France are terrific. From GI:

The rain, predicted as heavy, has yet to arrive. To play it safe, I set up the Anti-Inflation Book Shop at a nearby viaduct. My thanks to the woman who bought two books in Russian. It was a frustrating session, as several people took a long look and walked away empty-handed.
