It’s just horribly, horribly tempestuous spoilt children coming out of colleges and universities with s- -t for brains.” In the piece he also defends Winston Churchill, condemned as racist by elites, as the European most responsible for the defeat of the prime racists of all-time, the Nazis. Recall that this was the man who sang: “God save the Queen — she ain’t no human being.” Kudos.

I doubt there will be a more amusing headline today than this: “CEO of $2B Company Let Go for Taking LSD at Work.” Cue Mr. Hendrix: “‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky.”

Some people have amazing genes. Last night I watched Dead Ringer (1964), starring Bette Davis as a woman who kills her rich twin and assumes her place. Although it’s fun, I kept asking myself how did she convince herself she’d get away with it? It has a stellar supporting cast: Karl Malden, Peter Lawford, Jean Hagen, George Macready, Phillip Carey and Estelle Winwood, who lived to 101, passing in 1984. Born in the UK, there are 67 titles under her name at IMDb, and she did a lot of stage work. She made five appearances on Batman as Aunt Hilda, ‘66-’67. While perusing her bio, I came upon the following: “When she was 95, she acknowledged on Merv Griffin’s talk show that she smoked three packs of cigarettes a day.” Maybe she cut back to two the last six years of her life. Her name may not be familiar but I bet her face will be to boomers:

Also of interest regarding the flick — the fantastic career of director Paul Henried. Born in what at the time was Austria-Hungary, there are 58 titles under his name in the category of Actor, the most notable as Ilsa’s husband, Victor Laszlo, in Casablanca (1942), and 41 as Director, mostly in TV. He did 28 episodes alone of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Being blacklisted during the Red Scare did not seem to affect his career — and, according to his bio, he was a registered Republican! He passed away at 84 in 1992. Here’s a quote attributed to him: “I never felt Lee Strasberg could act, and I fail to see how someone who can’t act can teach acting.” In other words: Non mangia en Miami con Hyman Roth.

CNN is calling the Biden agenda “Moderate Radicalism.” Euphemism — a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing.

Business was good at the floating book shop on this lovely day.
