Correction: Yesterday I mentioned piracy in San Francisco. A proud Californian said the incident occurred south of the City by the Bay. Thanks, Miss Connoli.
At this very moment Republicans are practicing self-destruction in the effort to oust Speaker McCarthy. The real enemy, leftists, must be laughing themselves silly.
RIP NFL mainstay TE Russ Francis, 70, who died in a private plane crash. Born in Seattle, he attended high school in both Hawaii and Oregon, setting the national record for the javelin throw in 1971, which stood until ’88. At the University of Oregon he competed in the javelin and, due to injuries, played only 14 games of varsity football. Drafted by the Patriots in ’75, he played for them until ’80. He sat out the ’81 season and worked for ABC Sports. He was talked out of retirement by 49ers coach Bill Walsh and was a member of their Super Bowl championship in ’84. In 13 seasons he had 393 receptions and 40 TDs. He was second team All-Pro twice and was selected to three Pro Bowls. He also competed in the Superstars TV show, finishing second in ’80 and fourth in ’81. And he did some pro wrestling in the WWF, NWA and AWA. He hosted two radio shows. He even made an unsuccessful run at a congressional seat. He is survived by his wife and two children. Awesome, Sir. Facts from Wiki, photo from Google Images:

A wake up call? Headline from nypost.com: “Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar carjacked at gunpoint by three assailants outside his DC apartment.”
According to a NYP article by Ariel Zilber: “Tech workers in the San Francisco Bay Area who can’t afford soaring rents have instead opted to stay in $700-a-month ‘sleeping pods’ — 4-foot-tall, semi-open boxes that can fit a single twin mattress and which offer shared bathrooms and common spaces.” Photo from GI:
Another record? Headline from foxnews.com: “White House staff speak out about Biden’s dog Commander after eleventh biting incident.”
From FN: “‘Woke-free’ beer company rakes in $500K in 12 hours from Trump mugshot cans: ‘People are at a tipping point’.” Love it! Almost makes me want to drink suds. I’ll stick to Pepsi.
Another beautiful day and a nice return for the floating book shop. My thanks to the two ladies who combined to buy five books in Russian, and to the young woman who bought three CDs; and to the one who purchased Marcella Cucina by chef Marcella Hazan; and to the young man who jumped on The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris; and to Candy, who donated two more cook books.
