From an editorial at nypost.com, edited by yours truly: The Associated Press Stylebook is discouraging the nation’s newspapers from reporting on mass urban violence on the grounds that writing about what’s happening is “stigmatizing.” Sadly, this is no surprise. Journalism in the USA, at least in terms of politics, is now largely editorializing.

Here’s the type of transparency the mainstream media doesn’t like, from a headline at foxnews.com: “Trump authorizes declassification of all Russia collusion, Hillary Clinton email probe documents.” If he isn’t re-elected, it will have been for naught and the slimes will get away with their crimes. Then again, they would probably get only a slap on the wrist. As for “What did Biden know and when did he know it?” — he may no longer remember.

Here’s an amusing headline from NYP: “House panel report likens Big Tech to ‘oil barons and railroad tycoons.’” I bet they love that — not! Cartoonists would have to lampoon them not smoking big cigars but holding large lattes.

Also from NYP: CBD is now available in a powder form that is tasteless, 20 mg packets, 30 or 60 per pack.

Hold on to your hats: The New York Times has endorsed Joe Biden for president. Who’da thunk it?

Here’s an FN headline that is a total surprise: “Trump gets endorsement from Puerto Rico’s governor.” No doubt it’s tied to the last month’s announcement of a $13 billion aid package. In politics especially, money talks.

I wish we could hit a pause button on celebrity deaths, which seem to be flooding lately. RIP Johnny Nash, 80, whose I Can See Clearly Now, which he wrote, topped the charts in 1972, selling more than a million copies. It remains a constant play on Oldies stations, a pleasant listen. Thank you, sir.

Are these headlines from Yahoo Sports evidence of a backlash? “Ratings for Game 3 of the NBA Finals were the lowest ever recorded.” “NFL television ratings continue to slide across all networks this season.” I hope so.

Actor Jeff Bridges and his wife of 43 years have published a children’s book:

How ‘bout this headline from FN?: “Karaoke bar in Canada puts performers inside ‘shower stall’ for socially distanced singing.”

The Russian inventory continues to be a boon for the floating book shop. My thanks to the buyers, especially the middle age woman who took home three huge tomes on nursing — in English. Despite her age, she hopes to enter the field. Best of luck, madam, and also to Gene, who will be having hernia surgery soon. My thanks also to Lynn, who donated a couple of works of fiction, and to the gentleman who delivered a large bag of it containing several Stephen King novels. I don’t know why I should be so lucky.
