Clouds & Clowns

Remember studying clouds in Earth Science? There were stratus, cumulus, nimbus and various combinations of those including the cumulonimbus thunder cloud. There’s another I’m pretty sure didn’t make it into our textbook. While rooting around for a photo for today’s blog, I came across one of a lenticular cloud, which is formed along the side of a mountain. Here’s one, recently spotted in Turkey, photo from Google Images:

Excerpt from an article concerning the Davos elites by James Bovard at nypost.com: “The Swiss government assigned up to 5,000 Swiss troops to protect its attendees — except from prostitutes charging them $2,500 a night.” Bang for the buck. Too bad their private jets can’t be fueled by all the bull they spew.

The comedy continues on the marijuana front. Headline from NYP: “Wild West: There are now 1,400 illegal pot shops in NYC — and no one is stopping them.” Par for the course in a town where violent felons are shown leniency.

Will this endear the serial liar congressman to leftists? NYP headline: “Rep. George Santos also known as drag queen in Brazil over a decade ago: report.” Who in that body is not a serial liar?

Also for your amusement, headline from newsmax.com: “Trump: Mar-a-Lago Records Included Empty Folders.” And: “Minnesota Dem Pushes for Tampons in Boys Bathrooms.”

And the farce that is the federal government, from NM: “Debt Limit Warning a ‘Wake-Up Call’ on Spending.” It’s not a limit if the number is moved each time it is approached. Stop the bull.

The floating book shop was rained out today. I took care of a couple of chores, began the annual annoyance of a tax return, and checked to see why the required distribution of my IRA’s hadn’t shown up in my bank account. Several more steps were required. Since the cash has been distributed in 2023, I’m assuming it doesn’t have to be reported to the IRS mafia until next year, but you know what happens when you assume.

A few days ago I posted an announcement of my latest work, Coincidence, a novella, at classmates.com. Since then, I’ve received about 20 emails informing me of visits to my profile, many by people I’ve never met. I’ll be surprised if it leads to any book sales. So far I’ve resisted the temptation to take a peek. I usually check on Saturday morning.
