Comedy Tonight
Headline from foxnews.com: “Not just cocaine: Secret Service reveals another banned substance was found in Biden’s White House.” Mary Jane dropped in to see what condition her condition was in.
Turbulence from FN: “Kerry erupts after his private jet use is mocked in House hearing, denies ever owning one.” Excerpt from accompanying article by Andrew Mark Miller: “…48 trips lasting more than 60 hours and emitted an estimated 715,886 pounds, or 325 metric tons, of carbon since President Biden was sworn into office.” The megalomaniac is too important to planet Earth to fly commercially. Joke’s on us.
FN news out of Detroit: “Police commissioner caught in car with prostitute has bizarre explanation: ‘Done talking about it’.” All together now, the politicians’ mantra: “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Veep Veep, from FN: “Harris raises eyebrows with latest string of puzzling remarks.” AI, AI, madam.
FN: “Seattle neighborhood outraged after homeless install swimming pool, puff fentanyl.” Photo from Google Images:
The political comedy isn’t restricted to the USA, from FN: “Macron sent severed finger in mail, police place in fridge with snacks: report:” Look, a French fry. Yum.
From Italy and FN: “Judge clears janitor of groping high school girl because it was ‘just a few seconds’.” Would this also apply to stabbings and shootings?
Steve Kelly cartoon:
And from Hollywood and FN: “Kevin Spacey testifies he’s a ‘big flirt’ while denying violent groping allegations in sexual assault trial.” It was just a few seconds.
And from the world of rock n roll, a new book:
Dumb luck graced the floating book shop on this ultra-humid day. As soon as I reached the car, a woman who owed me a dollar approached. She asked for change of 20 and gave me ten. Then, as I was closing shop and there was a box of non-fiction set aside to be brought to the apartment, a gentleman dug out Berlin Diary: The Journal of a Foreign Correspondent 1934–1941 by William L. Shirer, a battered hardcover. My thanks, and also to Wolf, who bought a book and DVD in Russian; and to Herbie, who purchased Triptych by Karin Slaughter; and to the young mom who took home The Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis; and to the the elderly woman who chose yet another huge cookbook; and to the kind folks who donated and swapped wares. I am blessed.
