Controversies
From foxnews.com, edited by yours truly: An interesting film is about to open. The Hunt, R-rated, follows a dozen MAGA types who wake up in a clearing and realize they are being stalked for sport by elite liberals. Will there be an uproar from Trump supporters? What would happen if a flick featured liberals being stalked and killed? I don’t object. I’d rather have such things out in the open, where they can be debated. Here’s a poster:
I’m considering opting out of Twitter. It’s political bias is appalling. I don’t use it to post my views, although they appear in my blog, which I advertise at the site and which must be opened and read. My participation there is strictly mercenary — free advertising for my books. Then again, what media outfit doesn’t have a leftward bias aside from Fox and a few others that have little clout? Is Facebook any different? Several of my friends who are active in airing their politics have had their accounts suspended for periods of a time — and all are supporters of President Trump. I use FB to advertise and to check on the activity of friends and relatives. I’ve become disciplined about not responding to the nonsense my liberal friends post. I’ll keep my views in my blog. Why shove them in people’s faces on my feed?
Also from FN: The Post Office’s latest quarterly statement reports a net loss of nearly $2.3 billion, and it delivered 3.2% fewer packages. It has also defaulted on more than $40 billion in payments owed to pre-fund retiree health care expenses. A task force created by the President has suggested eliminating across-the-board price caps, and called for the use of “market-based prices” for both mail and package items not considered essential services. It also suggested “franchising the mailbox” to private shipping couriers, meaning companies like FedEx and UPS could place items in private mailboxes. My guess is the swamp will do it the old fashion way — bailouts.
And on to items that are not controversial, such as this silly pic of the young Ozzy Osbourne:
From FN, in my own words: A Virginia postman noticed mail piling up on a door step. The front door was ajar. He called the police, who found an elderly man on the kitchen floor, where he had fallen five days earlier. He sustained himself by drinking what was within reach — Coca Cola.
My thanks to Stu and Janet, who bought three books related to the Backstreet Boys, a manual on proper handwriting, and a DVD; and to the two ladies who purchased three books in Russian between them; and to the gentleman who made a two-for-one swap.
