Among today’s celebrations, it’s Chaos Never Dies Day. Examples below.

Government insanity, headline from nypost.com: “FEMA ‘horrified’ after confirming workers were directed to ‘avoid homes’ with Trump signs in hurricane-ravaged Florida community.”

Shades of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata, from NYP: “Liberal women withhold sex, shave heads to protest Trump win: ‘My bodily autonomy matters’.” Sounds like an invitation to guys to get lucky elsewhere.

Sports insanity, from NYP: “Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia sues NCAA over eligibility rules.” According to the article by Bryan Fonseca, the 23-year-old played two years at a JC and two at New Mexico St.. He’s miffed at not being able to cash in on the Name Image Likeness boon.

Art insanity, from NYP: “First artwork painted by humanoid robot sells at auction — for a whopping $1 million.” Photo from Google Images:

World insanity. I’ve avoided this story for at least two days. Maybe I just don’t want to face what it means. Headline from newsmax.com: “Hundreds of Jews Ambushed, Attacked in Amsterdam Pogrom.”

Pandemic insanity continues, from NM: “Mich. Jury Awards Millions to a Woman Fired for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine.” Karma?

RIP prolific, versatile actor Tony Todd, 69, who succumbed to cancer. Born in DC, a graduate of UCONN, he had an extensive background in repertory theater before breaking into film. There are 256 titles under his name at IMDb, screen career spanning 1986 to the present, eleven works to be released posthumously. He is best known as the star of The Candyman and Final Destination series. Here are five films in which he appeared: Platoon (1986), Lean on Me (1989), the remake of Night of the Living Dead (1990), The Crow (1994), The Rock (1996). He did a ton of guest shots on popular prime time fare, including three of the Star Trek incarnations, Law & Order, The X-Files, NYPD Blue and Xena: Warrior Princess. He was a master of the voiceover, not only in animation but movie trailers. Here’s a quote attributed to him: “It’s very interesting that most of the roles I’ve gotten are grim, when I’m actually a very well-adjusted man and had a happy upbringing. I guess there are some dark shadows somewhere in there, but I’m a big kid.” He was a father of two. Awesome, Sir. Thank you. Photo from GI:

Personal insanity: The smell of wildfires was in the air on this brisk, beautiful day. Only three customers ponied up to the Anti-Inflation Book Shop, but two bought in bulk. My thanks to the woman who lugged home the massive The Essential New York Times Cook Book, the equally massive The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook: The New Classics, Bobby Flay’s Grilling For Life: 75 Healthier Ideas for Big Flavor from the Fire, and a cook book in Russian; and to Wolf, who purchased two hardcovers in Russian, Private Eyes by Jonathan Kellerman. and Suspect (1987) on DVD; and to the gentleman who chose Batman 3D art.
