To watch or not watch the debate — that is the question. I already know where the candidates stand on the issues and believe anyone who would vote for Biden or any Democrat is seriously misguided. I admit to a curiosity as to whether he will be able to go 90 minutes without crumbling, but that would be like watching a car race for crashes.

Meanwhile, here’s a headline from foxnews.com: “President receives third 2020 Nobel Peace Prize nomination.”

And here’s an amusing poetic justice headline from FN: “Mayor Bill de Blasio side-swiped on city street by e-scooter.”

The NHL playoffs almost always feature a big surprise. This season’s surprise is that there is no surprise. Last year the Tampa Bay Lightning were touted as a team for the ages — and were swept in the first round. This time the franchise reached its potential. Kudos.

I stumbled into a CBS series that seems quite good: Manhunt. It deals with the 1996 Atlanta bombing when the press and FBI railroaded Richard Jewell, a security guard. Cameron Britton is excellent in the role. This was episode two. I caught only a few minutes of the first. TV vets Carla Gugino, Judith Light and Jay O. Sanders are among the cast. Clint Eastwood made a movie of it, released in 2019. I let the media’s negativism about it deter me from renting it. I will now add it to my Netflix list. Here’s Britton in character:

Got in about a half-session of the floating book shop before rain came. I’m not sure if any items will be too damaged to sell. Aware of the forecast, I didn’t even put out my own books, which always lends the feeling of lost opportunity. My thanks to the tall gentleman who bought thrillers by Brad Meltzer and Dean Koontz, and to the woman who bought a book in Russian; and to Boris, who did the same.
