Crusading
Very cool. An Israeli scuba diver discovered an ancient artifact at the bottom of the Mediterrean (AP Photo/Ariel Schalit):
Leave it to the bureaucracy to proclaim nonsense. Headline from nypost.com: “NYC Board of Health declares racism a public health crisis.” Has no progress been made in race relations? Granted, many individuals harbor ill will toward minorities, a percentage impossible to ascertain, but how many stand in their way? I believe the best yardstick that measures progress is the fact that blacks in America have now become their own worst enemy, just like the rest of the human race… Speaking of bureaucracy, does anything manifest its uselessness more than Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg having been on maternity leave since August before crawling out of the woodwork yesterday to address the cargo problem?
NYP headline: “Just to please unions, Biden refuses to automate ports.” Other countries, especially in Europe, have done it.
From NYP: Washington State head coach Nick Rolovich has been fired for not complying with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He was the only one of the Pac 12 head coaches who refused to vax… And in the Garden State: “NJ hospital system fires 118 employees for not getting COVID vaccine.”
An NYP article by Vanessa Chalmers introduces a new device: “A ring worn around the penis could help men figure out what’s causing their erectile dysfunction, and could even signal a deadly disease.” Now if they could only figure out how to make it double as a sexual device.
From an NYP editorial: “Total tax revenue for the year was 18.1 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, the highest since at least 2001, disproving claims that the Trump cuts permanently starved the government.” That added up to $36 billion more than predicted. Despite the boon, the federal government ran a $2.8 trillion budget deficit for fiscal year 2021. I know it’s beating a dead horse, but this country doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem, a swamp problem.
According to an article by Solange Reyner at newsmax.com: Of those who have entered the U.S. at the southern border, “46,000 people have come from Brazil.”
A country music artist has taken a stand, headline from foxnews.com: “Travis Tritt cancels shows at venues that require vaccines, negative tests or masks.” I still avoid crowds myself, despite being vaxxed. As I’ve often said, I have no idea what’s what regarding Covid, and I don’t have any confidence in those that claim they do, so I err on the side of caution.
Also from FN: “HS Secretary Mayorkas tests positive for COVID-19, days after event with Biden.” He is fully vaxxed.
It’s the time of year when the temperature outdoors isn’t low enough to get radiators working full time, so the apartment gets cold. Last night I wrapped myself in the afghans my mom knitted long ago. Thanks, Ma.
It was another good session for the floating book shop. My thanks to the kind folks who bought a wide variety of wares on this crisp, gorgeous day.
