RIP Bronx-born Danny Aiello, 86, who was 40 when he began his acting career. Before that he was president of the Greyhound Bus union. Always a strong presence on the big or small screen, there are 105 titles under his name at IMDb, including three that will be released posthumously. He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), and appeared in such significant films as The Godfather Part II (1974), Once upon a Time in America (1984), Moonstruck (1987), Leon: The Professional (1994) and two Woody Allen flicks: The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) and Radio Days (1987). He also appeared in several plays on and off Broadway. New Yorkers will remember the commercial for Gemini that ran constantly back in the day in which the woman famously said: “I’m not hungry, I’ll just pick” and Aiello said: “…The guest of honor, my ivy league son.” He was not lucky in TV. He played a police lieutenant as co-star of Lady Blue, and an ex-cop turned private eye in Dellaventura. Each series was cancelled after 14 episodes. He recorded several albums and toured with a backup band. Married since 1955, he fathered four children. Here’s a quote attributed to him: “Look, people have an image of Italians. When I go somewhere in the world, I don’t care where it is, when they look at me it’s not about my intelligence. It’s who can I beat up.” Well done, paisano.

Here are excerpts from an article at foxbusiness.com, edited by yours truly: While estimates vary up into the 80% range, even the New York Times has printed that around 65% of all households received a tax cut. Only 40% who received one thought that they did, ostensibly because people kept more money in their paychecks and received smaller refunds… it is estimated that approximately 80% of all USA millionaires are first-generation. Recent news shows that 675,000 brand new millionaires were created in the country last year alone. The politicians have yet to ruin it completely, although they’re doing their damnedest.

From an article at nypost.com, edited by yt: Thousands of “pulsing penis fish” have washed ashore in California. No, it’s not a joke, and it’s not lost cargo. The phallic-shaped creature dates back 300 million years and is edible. No, it doesn’t taste like chicken, more like clam. The 10-inch fat innkeeper worm typically lives underwater, burrowing in mud or sand. It is believed to have been brought to the surface by a recent storm. There’s no truth to the rumor that women are storming the beach. Here’s what the thing looks like:

Wow, what a vote of confidence conservatives and Boris Johnson received in England. Now don’t blow it. Get Brexit done. So far, their stock market approves.

I’ve completed the third proofing of the novel I will be self-publishing soon, and I uploaded the Word file to Amazon early this morning at the same time The Wrestling Collector was posting videos at youtube. If it is approved, I will order a proof copy, read it, make corrections to the Word file, then resubmit. I’ve gone through at least three proof copies per book. The references alone will in some cases be a page off. My eyes will be grateful for a break from the strain.

Due to the threat of rain, I set up shop at the viaduct at East 15th. My thanks to the woman who bought a math workbook for sixth grade.
