These little guys came into the world at 2:22 on 2/22/22, one in North Carolina, the other on Long Island. Welcome to the great adventure, boys.

The following excerpt from a nypost.com editorial will surprise only leftists: “Guess what? A World Inequality Lab study says it’s America that stands out as the country that redistributes the greatest fraction of national income to the bottom 50 percent…” Liberals will argue it’s not nearly enough.

Andy Warhol once said: “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” And it now seems everyone will have a podcast as well.

RIP musician Gary Brooker, 76. His name may be unfamiliar, but his seminal pop tune, A Whiter Shade of Pale, endures. Born in East London, he formed Procol Harum in 1966. The song was a worldwide sensation, hitting #1 in the UK, Canada and Australia and other countries, and #5 in the USA during the 1967 Summer of Love. It sold ten million copies. It was composed by pianist/vocalist Brooker and organist Matthew Fisher, lyrics by Keith Reid. Rolling Stone magazine placed it 57th on The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It has appeared on many soundtracks. I also enjoy the band’s second highest charted single, Conquistador, recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. It hit #16 on the Hot 100 in ’72. Homburg hit #34 in the states in ’67. Having zero recollection of it, I listened to it at youtube, and it still didn’t ring a bell. Brooker released three solos albums and a live disc. He has accompanied artists such as Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Alan Parsons, George Harrison, Kate Bush, The Hollies and Bill Wyman. He sang with Antonio Banderas in Evita (1996). Well done, sir. Thank you. (Facts from Wiki)

Great spring-like day to sell stuff curbside. My thanks to the three ladies who bought five novels in Russian between them; and to the woman who purchased Mood Indigo, a romance novel by Boris Vian and Stanley Chapman, and The Romanov Empress: A Novel of Tsarina Maria Feodorovna by C. W. Gortner; and to the young couple who jumped on Dune by Frank Herbert; and to the young man who took home The Happy Introvert: A Wild and Crazy Guide to Celebrating Your True Self by Elizabeth Wagele. The highlight of the session was a first-time visit from a guy who said he’s written a novel, Bruce Lee, Spike Lee and Me. He feels a kinship with the others he can’t explain. He said he died of alcohol poisoning on Bruce’s birthday, and was brought back to life by doctors. His own birthday is February 7th, which is 210 days from 9/11. He then said 6x6x6=210 (666). I didn’t dispute what a stretch that was in terms of meaning. I sense he’s still drinking.
