Dinosaurs
A drought has uncovered tracks in Dinosaur State Park in Texas. It is estimated they were left 113 million years ago. They will soon be covered again, as rain is forecast. Photo from nypost.com:
Headline from foxnews.com: “Top universities sitting on over $200B in endowments while taxpayers foot bill for Biden student debt handout.” It’s vote-buying, plain and simple. And to those who worked hard to pay off their debts — the finger, you dinosaurs.
Also from FN: “Kim Kardashian beats Hillary Clinton in a legal knowledge contest.” The score was 11–4. The quiz will be broadcast on a show produced by the political raptor and her freeloader daughter. The ubiquitous beauty passed the baby bar exam after completing her first year in a law apprenticeship program. Her late father Rob was a successful attorney who gained notoriety by getting O.J. Simpson off the hook.
Also from FN: “NIH study finds young Americans using more marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs than ever before.” Go Ask Alice: “Feed your Head” — Grace Slick, Jefferson Airplane. From violence to indulgence, this era mirrors the late ‘60’s-early ‘70’s.
My muse sent me this photo of a bookshelf in a Florida library. Present and Past, A Hitch in Twilight, Vito’s Day and Open Outcries were written by yours truly. It’s uplifting but perhaps a sign of the continued lowering of standards in the USA. Still, it made this dinosaur’s day.
There was a noticeable drop in humidity and a nice breeze blowing along Avenue Z, making for a pleasant session of the floating book shop on this gorgeous day. My thanks to the woman who kicked things off by buying Mother Teresa of Calcutta: A Personal Portrait by Leo Maasburg, and The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke by Suze Orman; and to the one who bought The Rainmaker by John Grisham; and the one who purchased cook books on French and Indian cuisine, and one on Cupcakes, and two VHS compilations of Divas in concert; and to Steve, the poet laureate of Sheepshead Bay, who took home the CD of Once on This Island, a one-act musical… Another Steve stopped by for the first time in a while. He recounted a tale from his Army days back in the ‘60’s. He worked in supply in Europe. One night he was involved in a poker game, everyone drinking and smoking. He was imbibing a huge canister of a Depth Charge, beer laced with a couple of shots of Southern Comfort. He passed out and didn’t awaken for two days, his buddies covering for him, knowing he was alive by his snoring. It motivated him to quit drinking. He found it a lot harder to quit cigarettes. He loved Camels, which were $1.10 per carton back then. I always feel self-conscious when hearing such stories, as I have never had a desire for such vices. I am so square.
