Take it Claude Bukowski: “Manchester England-England/ Across the Atlantic Sea…” (Gerome Ragni/James Rado/Galt Mac Dermot). Crowd-surfing, Manchester Punk Festival, photo by Chris Bethell/The Guardian:

Attention sci-fi writers, headline from nypost.com: “Total eclipse of the wallet: New Yorkers book private jets to guarantee seeing solar eclipse from above the clouds.”

How will this play out? From NYP: “Self-driving semi-trucks are the future of US transport — and they’ve already hit the road.” Will not having to pay drivers reduce consumer prices?

RIP Emmy winning writer Joe Flaherty, 82. Born in Pittsburgh, he achieved fame in Toronto, writing and performing for SCTV, SCTV Network and SCTV Channel, 131 episodes total. He was in 13 episodes of The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley, 65 of Maniac Mansion, 26 of Police Academy: The Series, 18 of Freaks and Geeks, and he did guest shots on many popular prime time shows. On the big screen he appeared in 1941 (1979), Used Cars (1980), Stripes (1981), Innerspace (1987), Who’s Harry Crumb (1989), Back to the Future Part II (1989), Happy Gilmore (1996), The Wrong Guy (1997), Detroit Rock City (1999). Nominated five times for an Emmy, he won in 1983 for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program, SCTV Network, shared with the rest of the zany crew. He was a father of two.
