Election Day

Cautious optimism, headline from nypost.com: “Poll position: Thousands of misdated mail-in ballots may not be counted in Pa. Senate race after court ruling.” The key word is “may.” Imagine if the court, post-election, rules to count them and it changes the outcome. I remain pessimistic about the forecasts of Republican sweeping gains. How can Zeldin win when 300,000 people have left NY, fed up with it policies, and more than 400,000 have opted for early voting, which in the past has skewed widely toward Dems? I’ve heard that the figure is half of what it was in 2020. It still seems a lot to overcome. I think early voting will also do in Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania. I doubt Republicans will win any race where it is a major factor. Hope I’m wrong. I’m not voting, as I believe the direction of the country toward socialism has passed the point of no return. As in the past, it can only be paused or slowed. As of 4:44 PM, difficulties are already being reported. Do I feel guilty about not voting? Yes, but it’s not overwhelming.
Rare good news for consumers these days, headline from NYP: “Home Depot workers overwhelmingly reject labor union.”
I have never liked beer, but this NYP headline may change my mind: “Does beer hold the key to fighting Alzheimer’s disease?” Can it be that easy? If only. “This Bud’s for you.”
45 years too late, headline from NYP: “Sloppy Joe: Washington Post fact-check blasts Biden with ‘Bottomless Pinocchio’ rating.” Even Johnny Carson joked about Quid Pro Joe in his opening monologue back in the day — and you can look it up.
Huh? Headline from newsmax.com: “Biden Tells Big Oil to ‘Expand Supply,’ Assures ‘No New Drilling’.” Just wave a magic wand, silly.
The floating book shop was back on its home turf today and enjoyed above average return for the first time in a while. My thanks to my Constant Benefactress, who donated four works of non-fiction, three of which sold; and to the gentleman who bought a dictionary; and to Ira, who purchased The Great Juggling Kit by Stuart Ashman; and to the woman who selected Taste of Romania, a cookbook by Nicolae Klepper; and to Wolf, who took home three paperbacks by Isaac Asimov, a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, America by Stephen Coonts, and Psalms, a beautiful tome in both English and Hebrew.
