We desperately need amusement at present, so I’ll begin with a headline from nypost.com that may lift the gloom momentarily: “Woman’s implants deflect bullet, save her life.” Tits a miracle!

In an article at foxnews.com, Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott had this to say, edited by yours truly: “The political class in Washington scoffs when people like me say that government needs to be run like a business. They say government’s too complicated to run like a business. Any elected official or government bureaucrat who believes that should resign tomorrow, because they are part of the problem… Common sense isn’t complicated. Don’t send money to dead people. That’s not complicated. Don’t bail out huge corporations or send taxpayer money to businesses that haven’t been hurt by this crisis. That’s not complicated. Don’t incentivize workers to stay on government-run, taxpayer-funded programs when this crisis has ended and we need them to go back to work. That’s not complicated.” He cites both Republican and Democrat spendaholics, which is only fair, as they have teamed to push the deficit way past $20 trillion. Kudos. Unfortunately, the swamp will conduct business as usual.

And this may be the best headline of the day, from FN: “Harvard won’t ‘seek or accept’ federal stimulus money after calls from Trump to return cash.” The world-famous university, which has an endowment of $40 billion, had to be shamed into doing the right thing. Meanwhile, Stanford and Princeton announced they would not accept any of the same funding. Kudos.

Wow — Bill Belichick was in essence forced to trade Ron Gronkowski, one of the greatest TE’s in NFL history, to the Buccaneers for only a fourth round pick — and he had to throw in a seventh round pick too! Let’s not start feeling sorry for the Patriots until they start losing on the field as well. Here’s one of the ways Gronk passed time before coming out of retirement:

I was hoping to be back selling books on the street by July. I now wouldn’t be surprised if I’ll have to wait until next spring.
