Evolving

Trivia: Before he was famous, which actor dressed as a chicken for an El Pollo Loco ad? And which actress did a Barbie ad? Answers below. Photos from Google Images:
The sexual revolution continues to evolve. Headline from nypost.com: “Escort reveals ‘controlled cheating’ trend — when wives book sex workers for their husbands.”
The digital world continues to evolve — or devolve in this case. From NYP: “Hacked robot vacuums hurl racial slurs at shocked owners, who react with ‘fear, disgust’.”
From NYP: “Amazon to invest in 3 nuclear plants as it scrambles to power AI programs.” This seems good, as it would not be a drain on power overall.
This is why I’ll be very surprised if DT wins. Headline from newsmax.com: “Less Than Half of ’22 Votes Were Cast in Person.”
From NM: “Phillips 66 to Close LA Refinery Due to Oil Law.” Environmentalists must be thrilled. What will happen to supply and cost?
The By the Numbers short story collection file continues to evolve and grow. This morning I added at least 50 words to 4-Ever. It and Two Relaxing have become like puzzles. I’ve fit several pieces from my life into each, the latest having to do with the number twelve, something that has become amusing family lore. The manuscript still needs another story to reach an acceptable length — at least to me — for a print version.
Trivia from IMDb: “While starring on TV as Wyatt Earp, (Hugh) O’Brian wagered $5,000 to any Hollywood actor that could beat his timed draw. No one ever beat him, and some did try. Once Audie Murphy called him out, but insisted that they use live ammunition. Hugh declined the offer.”
Trivia answers: Brad Pitt & Mila Kunis.
It was bombs away today at the Anti-Inflation Book Shop. My thanks to the man and woman who each delivered a cache of DVDs and a DVD player, and to the kind folks who swapped and bought. Here’s what sold: a Nora Roberts translation in Russian, a DVD box set of Victor Borge in concert; QB VII by Leon Uris; a dictionary; Princess by James Patterson & Rees Jones; Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King; Life Is Messy by Matthew Kelly. I left a lot of the least marketable DVDs and the player hidden in the garden. If somebody spots and takes them, so be it. It was just too much to carry home. As it was it required a back and forth. I’ll probably nod off earlier than usual in front of the TV tonight.
