From an article at nypost.com by Hannah Frishberg about an interesting development at a streaming service, edited by yours truly: “Neil Young gave Spotify an ultimatum, saying he refused to allow his music on the same platform as Joe Rogan. He accused Rogan of spreading false information about COVID-19 vaccines in his podcasts. Rogan is the platform’s biggest draw, attracting an estimated eleven million viewers. He was paid more than $100 million. Spotify has sided with Rogan. Young stands to lose 60% of his streaming revenue by adhering to his principles.” Although I am perhaps in 100% disagreement with him politically, I have been a fan of his music, and play several of his songs on guitar. I believe he is also wrong in this case, his stance an attack on free speech. Rogan has not commented on the issue.
Headline from NYP: “NJ school district renames Woodrow Wilson High School, citing ‘racist values’.” From what I’ve read, heard and seen, Wilson, a Democrat, seems to have been a racist. It will be interesting to see if anyone dares to defend him.
Extra credit. NYP headline: “College kid accused of selling dozens of loaded guns to undercover NYPD cop.”
Are you kiddin’ me? NYP headline: “Not wanted: Navy SEALs to stop using state parks after residents voice fears of seeing ‘armed men’.” They’d been using the area in the state of Washington for training for 30 years — without incident!
No sadder headline than this from NYP: “Deadly day at school: 100 bags of fentanyl found in teen’s room after he OD’d at school: cops.” Cartels are laughing all the way to the bank. Stop this fentanyl madness!
Tidbit from an NYP editorial, in my own words: Russia supplies one-third of Europe’s energy resources. The evil power has filled the void that should have been filled by the USA. Aargh!
I hope the right doesn’t waste energy on the vacancy created by Justice Breyer’s retirement. A liberal will replace a liberal. The balance will not change. Focus on more important matters. Let it be Kamala Harris, who would no longer be in line for the presidency. Don’t be surprised if Hillary is appointed VP. Yikes!
Headline from foxnews.com: “Calls for Biden’s impeachment begin after secret migrant flights exposed.” Don’t worry, the mainstream media is all over the story — and monkeys might fly out of my butt!
If there’s a more amusing headline today than this out of the UK, I’d love to see it. From FN: “Cops: 84-year-old man was driving without a license for 72 years.” He didn’t even have insurance!
Not a bad return for the floating book shop on this glorious winter day. Despite the cold, I didn’t retreat to the car until the last half hour of the session when clouds rolled in. My thanks to Sam, who bought the third proof of Curious Sicilian, which differs from the finished product only by a Not For Sale strip across the front. The five other sales were of Russian titles, including a translation of The Magician of Lublin by Isaac Bashevis Singer.
