Politics 101. Headline from nypost.com: “NY test scores plummet, kids flee — yet empty schools stay open, wasting billions.”

Politics 102. From NYP: “Beavers saved Czech Republic over $1M on infrastructure project.” According to the article by Shane Galvin: “While officials twiddled their thumbs, a colony of eight beavers cut right through the bureaucratic red tape and got to work constructing several dams, creating a natural wetland — exactly what their human cohabitants were trying to achieve.”

Common sense. Headline from newsmax.com: “Pentagon Moves to Take Back Troops Discharged Over COVID Vax Refusals.”

Gary Varvel cartoon:

From an NM article by Lynn C. Allison: “Cold temperatures can boost metabolism and the immune system, as well as improve sleep.” I don’t care. I want it to be warm.

Headline from Yahoo Sports concerning the City of Brotherly Love: “Report: 2 people shot at Eagles’ Super Bowl 59 championship parade in Philadelphia.” And a player and a GM/VP were hit in the head by beer cans.

Fun Factoids from an article by Bonny Chu at foxnews.com:
The global population is more than eight million. That means each person shares a birthday with 20 or so million people.
Unlike the rest of the solar system, Venus spins clockwise.

It’s silly but I was so happy when the weather chart indicated precipitation would start after one PM. That allowed the Anti-Inflation Book Shop a regular window of operation. Yeah, it was cold, but so what? My thanks to local porter Rob, who donated three books and a pair of brand-new boots, and to the woman who delivered a stack of Russian titles, and to the gentleman who took home two of them; and to Romania-born artist Andu, who settled half his tab. I am blessed.
