Laugh, howl at the heavens? Headline from nypost.com: “Denver migrants, advocates complain six months of free rent is ‘insufficient’: ‘Slap in the face’.” They should all have their faces slapped — literally.
From NYP out of Nazareth, Pennsylvania: “Teacher sues after he’s convicted of putting ‘for sale’ sign in truck window.” According to the article by Jesse O’Neill, the vehicle was parked in front of the guy’s house. The fine was paid. And politicians wonder why so many hate them.
RIP Carl Erskine, 97, mainstay of the Brooklyn Dodgers’ glory years pitching staff. Born in Indiana, he joined the Navy in 1945 and was stationed in Boston. He signed with the Dodgers, with whom he remained his entire career. He pitched primarily in relief from ‘48-’50. He won 20 games in ’53, completing 16. Affectionately dubbed “Oisk,” he was a member of five pennant-winners and the ’55 championship squad, da Bums’ only World Series win. He tossed two no-hitters. He was an All-Star in ’54. In twelve seasons he finished 122–78, ERA 4.00. After his career ended, he did a bit of broadcasting and coached Anderson College, a private Christian school located in his hometown. His teams won four conference championships and made it to the NAIA finals in ’65. He was appointed a bank president and was active in charities that targeted Down Syndrome, assistance to Major, Minor and Negro league baseball players suffering financial and medical difficulties, and the Special Olympics. In 2002 Erskine Street in Brooklyn was created and named after him. He was a father of four. Awesome, Sir. Facts from Wiki, photo from Google Images:
It’s only an issue in the minds of the deranged and unscrupulous leftists. Headline from foxnews.com: “Feds gave Planned Parenthood eye-popping sum during year of record abortions.”
The incoming swamped the outgoing at today’s session of the Anti-inflation Book Shop. My thanks to the young woman who delivered a bag of kids’ stuff, and to Alice, who donated a huge cookbook and a bunch of CDs; and to Wolf, who bought six DVDs, including Mamma Mia (2008), and a collection of the hits of the Mamas and the Papas; and to Lynn, who purchased Great Expectations by Charles Dickens; and to the woman who took home another novel in Russian.
