It’s Fleet Week in NYC. Photo from reuters.com:

Headline from nypost.com: “DeSantis claims Trump handed US over to Fauci and ‘destroyed millions of lives’.” DT’s biggest mistake was trusting that a clueless bureaucrat knew his stuff.

From NYP: “Beluga breach: Norway warns residents to stay away from whale suspected as Russian ‘spy’.” Okayyyyy.

This does not surprise me, from NYP: “More than a quarter of Americans live alone and number is on the rise: census data.” I am one and know many who also fly solo.

From NYP: “Texas girl born in jail graduates top of class, heading to Harvard in the fall.” Kudos, Kiddo.

For the second straight day good news on the AI front. Headline from newsmax.com: “Antibiotic to Kill Superbug Discovered Through AI.” Does this mean there’s nothing to fear? I have no idea.

Nice return at the floating book shop on this gorgeous day, despite not selling a single item in Russian, and it was all outgoing, no incoming. Yesterday local porter Rob gave me two pair of casual shoes and suggested selling them for $30 each, a 50–50 split. I sold one pair for $20 and gladly settle for five on my end, although I won’t tell Rob. Here’s what else sold: The Tatooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris; Career Match: Connecting Who You Are with What You’ll Love to Do by Shoya Zichy and Ann Bidou; How to Succeed with Men by David Copeland, Ron Louis, et al.; Booth, historical fiction by Karen Joy Fowler; The Story of Star Wars and The Best of Billy Joel on vinyl; DVDs of The Departed (2006), Goodfellas (1990), Black Hawk Down (2001) Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Gangs of New York (2002) and Fight Club (1999). My thanks to all the buyers.
