Flurries of Activity
Looks like Covid is here to stay. I don’t blame Quid Pro Joe, although I have zero confidence in his leadership. If anyone is to blame it’s China, but even that may never be proven definitively. A few days ago I wrote that my gut was telling me the economy was going to boom beginning in the fourth quarter, saving the Dems from the catastrophe many are predicting in the 2022 elections. The variant may spoil that. Stay tuned.
It will be tough to top this headline, from nypost.com out of St. Petersburg Russia: “Headless body falls out of cannibal’s car after crash.” Hope he’s insured.
Headline from foxnews.com: “Shocking details of the Biden family’s involvement with China revealed.” This is not news to those who paid attention. Unfortunately, the left won’t care and their mainstream media allies won’t report it… Side bar: The Boston Celtics’ center who has been critical of China and those players who look away from its evils is changing his name to Enes Kanter Freedom. He is set to become an American citizen. We are lucky to have him.
As I emerged from the building for my early morning walk, there were flurries in the air, a dusting on cars. Despite the temperature being forecast to climb into the mid 40’s, some streets were salted. Fie! Never underestimate government’s ability to waste money and resources.
I clicked on a file in my Google Docs labeled “Essays” to see if there were any I could use in the Curious Sicilian. One piece, Brief Look at the Subconscious of a Middle Age Man, humor that reads like fiction, has already been added. There are two more I will consider, each commentary on the arts. I won’t use the one on politics, nor the one on post-911 life on the trading floor, a favorite of a trader who passed away years ago. I’m not comfortable exploiting that event and I avoid most references to it and any film or TV show about it. Since I had the dumb luck of being on vacation that terrible day, I feel like an outsider, even though I walked past that big hole in the ground every work day for years.
There was no wind today, which negated the lack of sunshine. My thanks to the kind folks who bought books, and to Sam, who told me in an email how much he enjoyed Exchanges, whose title is now Open Outcries — long story.
