Follies

I’ve finally got it. Everything spreads the virus except Biden street celebrations, BLM protests and rioting and looting. Glad that’s out of the way. In a related headline from nypost.com: “California Gov. Gavin Newsom apologizes for breaking own COVID-19 rules.” The mainstream media accepts… And another: “Erykah Badu tests positive for COVID-19 in left nostril, negative in right.” “Half the world does not know how the other half lives.” — George Herbert… One more: “NYC Sheriffs shut down rogue Manhattan rager packed with partiers.” There were 205 at a venue in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. Frank Sinatra had this to say: “Alcohol may be man’s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy.”… And here’s one subway rider’s unique bow to the mask requirement. Then again, who can say what his motivation was?:

Actor/comedian Tim Allen is a fellow alum of Western Michigan U.. He graduated in the mid ‘70’s, a few years after I did. Two days ago he trolled leftists with a couple of tweets: “Finally an honest progressive position: ‘…short-term demands among them a progressive income tax; abolition of inheritances and private property; abolition of child labor; free public education; nationalization of the means of transport.’” And: “Guess who wrote this? Carl Marx. Communist manifesto. Wikipedia.” He amended the misspelling of the first name in a third tweet. Given what academia has become, I bet there are regrets among those staff members who awarded him an honorary fine arts degree and the Distinguished Alumni Award in ’98. Kudos, sir.

From an article at foxbusiness.com, this snippet that manifests the farce that is the leadership of NYC: “More than 300,000 New Yorkers have bailed from the Big Apple in the last eight months.”

This guy is no joke: Kudos to Dustin Johnson, who won the Masters by five strokes, shooting a record 20-under par. He now has two legs of the coveted Grand Slam, having won the U.S. Open.

This guy broke into a restaurant recently, stealing money and other items — and then made a pizza! He has been tracked down and arrested. I googled pizza jokes. All were too cheesy:

As for the folly that is the floating book shop, my thanks to the two gentlemen who combined to buy three books in Russian, and to the middle age woman who purchased The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and a beautifully illustrated hardcover version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll; and to the young man who selected Will Shortz Presents Su Do Ku and The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, the best novel I’ve read the past few years; and to Ann, who settled her tab.

“If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise.” — William Blake. One can only hope.
