Northern Lights — Aurora Borealis — Norway, photo from REUTERS/Lisi Niesner:

So demonstrators supporting Hamas attacked police and destroyed property. I’m shocked — shocked!

I am fascinated by the way language evolves. Here are ten Gen Z phrases that allegedly annoy co-workers, culled from an article by Alex Mitchell at nypost.com. I am unfamiliar with most but not annoyed by any. The only phrase I recall annoying me back in the day is “Not for nothin’.”
G.O.A.T.: I assume just about everyone knows it.
Slay: applied when a person is exceeding expectations.
Sus: suspicious
FR: for real, applying gravity, accuracy, verification to an opinion.
Vibing: used to expressed positive emotional feeling.
Flex: brag or gloat.
Glow Up: personal improvement over time.
Bet: Yes or I agree.
Period: emphasis at end of a statement. It has been around forever.
Basic: lack of individuality or independent thought.

On the Mad Vlad front, headline from newsmax.com: “UK: More Than 300,000 Russians Killed in Ukraine.”

A bit of the human comedy from NM: “Report: Disney Epcot Janitors Can Wear Pronoun Pins.”

Attention migrants. Here’s a possible destination. From NM: “Young People Fleeing, Cuba Faces Worst Crisis in Decades.” The communist paradise is calling.

Among 11/16’s many celebrations is World Philosophy Day. The philosophy I wish I’d practiced a whole lot more is No Risk, No Reward. What’s yours?

I am officially a millionaire — at least temporarily. My share of the sale of our house is in my bank account. If I understand the tax rate correctly, the total will probably dip below a million once the thieves take their share.

Headline from foxnews.com: “Iran on ‘execution spree’ since start of Israel-Hamas war, killing 107 anti-regime activists, ethnic minority.” Something else for supporters of Hamas to cheer.

A wow day in terms of weather: sunshine, moderate temperature, no wind — perfect for doing business curbside. My thanks to the woman who bought a hardcover romance in Russian, and to the one who overcompensated me for two DVDs of Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! Wings and Things; and to the Latino gentleman who, as he has done so often, parked his bike and chose several items: four CDs and Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson. I am blessed.
