From a nypost.com article by Jack Hobbs, edited by yours truly: “… the world’s first flying bike, inspired by Star Wars, has officially been released in Japan. Twelve feet long, 661 pounds, 228-horsepower, it was developed by an airline company. It uses a gas-powered Kawasaki motor, which will surely irk environmental zealots — yay! There is also an electrical battery that provides stability. Price tag for the Xturismo: more than $500,000, so we won’t be seeing NYC delivery guys flying the friendly skies above our heads. Shades of Big Brother and 1984, headline from nypost.com: “Water cooler tracking is the latest return-to-office metric companies are tracking.”

Headline from newsmax.com: “Mexico Travel Surges, Despite State Dept. Warnings.” The species never ceases to fascinate.

This may be the most amusing headline of the day: “CNN’s Jill Biden primetime special flops, sheds nearly half of network’s time slot average.” That’s Doctor Biden to you.

Beautiful but just as windy as yesterday, making conditions tough for the floating book shop. The most prominently displayed items were heavy ones that would not blow away. I spent most of the session in the car. My thanks to the home attendant of the surviving Brainiac Brother, who did a three-for-one swap on his behalf; and to the gentleman who dropped off a large paperback; and to my Constant Benefactress, who insisted on paying for Heroes of the Environment: True Stories of People Who Are Helping to Protect Our Planet by Harriet Rohmer; and to the young mom who purchased Once We Were Brothers by Ronald H. Balson, The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber, Dream Catcher: A Memoir by Margaret A. Salinger, daughter of J.D., and a hardcover in Russian.
