Tough love, headline from nypost.com: “Mom of Chicago train robbery suspect recognizes him, drags him to police station.” Kudos, madam.

Amusing headline from newsmax.com: “Dominican Republic Begins Building Border Wall With Haiti.” Add your own punchline.

Headline from foxnews.com: “NYC police report 6 subway stabbings, 2 attacks with hatchet, pipe as zero tolerance plan takes effect.” Ban those lethal weapons! Problem solved, move on.

I like this idea. Headline from FN: “Krispy Kreme launches Twix doughnuts in 1st collab with candy brand.” Too bad my age allows only a once in a blue moon indulgence of such treats.

RIP NFL Hall of Famer Charley Taylor, 80. At Arizona St. he was a RB and DB. He was selected in the first round of the 1964 draft by the Redskins, the third pick overall. He was Rookie of the Year. He was switched to WR and led the league in receptions in ’66 and ’67. He also led in receiving yards in four seasons. He retired as the pro football’s all-time leading receiver, 649. He scored 90 TDs rushing and receiving. He earned first or second team All-NFL honors six times and was selected to play in eight Pro Bowls. After his playing career ended, he served as the ‘Skins WR coach from ‘81-’93. Well done, sir. Thank you. (Facts from Wiki)

RIP NY Rangers legend Emil “The Cat” Francis, 95, who as coach and GM pulled them from the basement into perennial contender. The team made the Stanley Cup playoffs in nine consecutive seasons from 1966–67 to ‘74–’75, including four straight semifinal appearances and a trip to the finals in 1971-’72. He is the Broadway Blues’ all-time leader in wins, games coached and points percentage. No other Rangers coach has more playoff wins (34) or more playoff game appearances (75). Alas, the team was unable to produce a championship during his tenure, despite great talent. Still, he is a Big Apple sports icon. He also served as GM of the St. Louis Blues and Hartford Whalers. Overall, his record with the Rangers and Blues is 388–273–117. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builders category. Well done, sir. Thank you, sir. (Wiki)

Great day to sell wares curbside. My thanks to the two gentlemen who bought a book each in Russian, and to the young man who purchased a World Literature compilation, Overcoming Overeating by Jane R. Hirschmann, Wine (101 Essential Tips) by Tom Stevenson, Starting Out or Starting Over by James Kramon; and Billionths of a Lifetime by yours truly; and to the Lady Eve, whose grandson set up her new Kindle, which enabled her to download Curious Sicilian, which she has almost finished and had nice things to say about it.
