RIP NFL stalwart Howard Twilley, 81. Born in Houston, he had a phenomenal career at Tulsa University, All-American, runner up for the Heisman trophy in 1965 when he caught a then NCAA record 134 passes — in only ten games! He also kicked PATs. The school retired his #81 and he was named to its Hall of Fame. A step slow by pro standards, he was selected by the Dolphins in the 12th round of the AFL ’66 draft, the 101st pick overall. He played for them his entire career, ‘66-’76. He was a member of the Super Bowl VI & VII champions, catching a TD pass in the latter game, a victory that completed the NFL’s only undefeated season. Overall, he caught 212 passes and scored 23 TDs. After his playing career ended, he went into business, at one time owning 28 The Athlete’s Foot sporting goods stores. He also worked for an investment firm, and he coached at the high school level. Facts from Wiki and tulsahurricanes.com. Photo from Google Images:

Among today’s celebrations, it’s Working Naked Day. Only on hot summer days for me. I resist the temptation to post a pic of a porn star, who almost always work naked.
An unfriendly wind took a lot of the fun out of the Anti-Inflation Book Shop on this otherwise beautiful day. My thanks to the three kind folks who donated stuff, and to Sophie and Wolf, who bought three easy listening CDs, a hardcover in Russian and City of Thieves by David Benioff; and to my Constant Benefactress, who insisted on paying for Art of Deception (The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, 4) by Leonard Goldberg, despite donating four books, a handbag and a bunch of costume jewelry.
