Cue Andrea McArdle: “The sun will come out tomorrow…” Finally! Music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin. Photo from Google Images:

Never mind the groundhog, it’s also Working Naked Day. At the moment I’m naked from the waist down, which is more info than anyone needs. It is also Ayn Rand Day. She remains controversial because liberals hate her belief in capitalism. I think her ideas are sound. She helped me realize the dominance of self-interest, not an easy issue to admit. Of her two major works, Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, I prefer the latter, basically the same ideas, more grounded and one-third shorter than the former. Photo from GI:

RIP actor Carl Weathers, 76, best known for his turn as Apollo Creed in the wildly popular Rocky series. Born in New Orleans, he earned a degree in theater arts at San Diego St., where he played football as a DE. He played professionally as a LB for the Raiders, eight games, and the BC Columbia Lions of the Canadian league, three seasons. His film career began in blaxploitation. There are 80 titles under his name at IMDb spanning 1973–2023. He did six episodes of Fortune Dane, nine of Tour of Duty, 44 of Street Justice, 28 of In the Heat of the Night, 13 of Brothers, 13 of Chicago Justice, nine of The Mandalorian, as well as a host of one-shots on popular primetime shows. On the big screen he appeared in Serpico (1976), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Semi-Tough (1977), Force 10 from Navarone (1978), Predator (1987), Action Jackson (1988), Happy Gilmore (1996) to name a few. He also was skilled at voiceovers, and has more than 30 credits directing TV shows, and four as a producer. Awesome, sir. Married and divorced three times, he was a father of two. Photo from GI:

Headline from foxnews.com: “Mom goes dumpster diving for fun — says she’s found over $2,000,000 worth of items.” Kudos. There is so much discarding of items that would have value to others. People bring me books and DVDs rather than throw them out, and they sell!

From FN: “Music could be the secret to fighting off dementia, study says: ‘Profound impact’.” That is one of the reasons I still play guitar despite diminishing skills.

Gary Varvel cartoon:

The rain lingered. putting the kibosh on the floating book shop. I should come up with another name for it now that I’m fixed on a single street corner. Maybe the Anti-Inflation Book Shop.
