Headline from nypost.com: “Toxic system: Activists care more about teen killers than the teens they kill.” Of all the changes being brought about by leftists’ rule, the most troubling is the apparent major spike in violence across America, especially in areas that have been run by Dems for decades. The rest of it, as unjust and annoying as it is and will continue to be, can be tolerated, worked around. Let’s hope the chaos is simply a reflection of the 24/7 news cycle available everywhere, and not as unusual as it seems.

Just when you thought life, the world couldn’t get any crazier, there’s this from a Reuters article, in my own words. There’s a new illegal substance on the market, its origin seemingly African. Users take the residue from the catalytic converters of cars and mix it with crushed pills, and either snort it or sprinkle it on a cigarette. It’s called “Bombe,” which translates to powerful in Lingala language. It has led to theft of catalytic converters. The stuff makes one tired, non-violent.

Also on the drug front, an article at NYP summarizes the plight of a convicted drug smuggler, who in the ‘90’s was on death row in the notorious Thai prison known as the Bangkok Hilton. He escaped. Now 65, he has reformed but still believes drugs should be legal. His book was published in 2017. Sounds like a great read.

Talk radio host Mark Simone describes Quid Pro Joe’s media strategy as “Operation Change the Subject.” Kudos. This morning he said the Arizona audit showed 44,000 fraudulent votes. Biden won the state by 11,000. I was unable to find any corroboration of this in a Google search.

RIP the lovely Jean Hale, 82, who had a modest Hollywood career that would be the envy of many aspiring actors. There are 38 titles under her name at IMDb, many of them TV guest shots. Her most substantial role is likely In Like Flint (1967), the entertaining takeoff on the then super secret agent craze. She followed that up the same year playing George Segal’s moll in The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. She also garnered good reviews in the scorned The Oscar (1966). She married Dabney Coleman in 1961, a union that lasted until 1984 and produced three children. Here she is in character in the spy spoof:

Today’s session of the floating book shop was divided in two, the first 45 minutes followed by a two-hour rain delay, then an hour+ second round. My thanks to Ira, who bought Al Roker’s Extreme Weather pictorial, and to the woman who shocked me by showing up on such a dreary day with a bag filled with pristine hardcovers in Russian. And to the one who purchased an art pictorial in Polish; and to The Quiet Man, who took home DVDs of Betty White’s 1950 series, and the ‘60’s reboot of Dragnet; and to Alan, who delivered a work of non-fiction on WWII.
