Folks having fun at yesterday’s 41st Mermaid Parade in Coney Island. Photo from Google Images:

RIP NFL Hall of Famer Bob Brown, 81. Born in Cleveland, he went to the University of Nebraska, where he was All-America his senior season. The Eagles selected him in the first round of the 1964 draft, the second pick overall. He was named to the All-Rookie team. He played five years in Philly, three for the L.A. Rams and three for the Oakland Raiders. He was All-Pro five times, Second-Team four times. He was named to six Pro Bowls and to the NFL 1960s All-Decade Team. He is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame, the College Football Hall of Fame, the Eagles Hall of Fame and the Nebraska Cornhuskers Hall of Fame. His alma mater retired his #64. He was a dad of one. Well done, Sir. Photo from GI:

Honey, leave the windows open, let’s air out the house:

On the heels of the secession issue in eastern Oregon, headline from nypost.com: “California county considering forming its own state: report.” Would love to see how it would work, but doubt it will happen.

Interesting development on the inflation front, headline from NYP: “Spice lovers swipe Sriracha from restaurants as beloved condiment’s prices skyrocket.” I don’t believe I’ve ever tasted it.

Putting his money where his mouth is, headline from NYP: “Prince William to build public housing on his Cornwall estate.” I always sense good vibes from Will and his lovely wife Kate. Best of luck, Sir. If only America’s rich liberals followed suit. Perhaps they’re not as naive.

NYP caption: “India’s GDP grew by more than 7% last year, its tech unicorns have dazzled the world, and electronic payment transactions have surged across the country. And now, with 1.4 billion people — India’s population has surpassed China’s.” Kudos.

Excerpt from the column of NYP sports media critic Phil Mushnick, edited by yours truly: “June 14, 1974 — Red Sox lost to the Angels, 4–3, in 15 innings. Nolan Ryan went 13 innings for the Angels, throwing at least 250 pitches (there were no official pitch counts then). Boston’s Luis Tiant, the “loser,” went all 15 innings. And now we skip ahead to this past Wednesday, June 14, Yankees at Mets. The two starters, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole, being paid a combined $79 million this season, were removed after six innings each, having allowed one run apiece.” Kudos once again, Sir.

Headline from foxnews.com: “Company offers ‘baby bonus’ for employees in effort to combat ‘anti-family’ push towards abortion.” PublicSq., $5000. Kudos.

The only MLB team yet to cave to Pride Night pressure nonsense is the Texas Rangers. Kudos. Please stick to your guns.

Tough day at the floating book shop. The clouds kept dodging the sun, so I baked most of the session, and business was terrible. My thanks to the gentleman who bought a knapsack and a heavy-duty cloth shopping bag.
