Here’s some fun trivia culled from an article by Nicole Johnson at msm.com: What was TV’s first sitcom? Since 99.999% won’t get it, I’ll answer immediately: Pinwright’s Progress, broadcast live by the BBC, airing 11/1946. Since recording wasn’t available, the ten episodes are lost. The show concerned the misadventures of a shop proprietor. The first American sitcom was Mary Kay and Johnny, airing 11/’47, shot live before a studio audience. It was 15 minutes and starred real life couple Johnny and Mary Kay Stearns, who were married 55 years until Johnny’s passing. Only a single copy of the show remains. Photo from Google Images:
Okay, here’s a trivia question a lot of people might get. I didn’t. Which sitcom theme song was first to spawn a #1 Billboard hit? Answer below.
Return to senses. Headline from nypost.com: “Back to bra-zen The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has dropped all woke pretenses to embrace trademark sexiness — and looks better for it.” Yay!
From NYP: “Hoo-ah! How Al Pacino went broke — 16 cars, 23 cell phones and $400,000 in landscaping for a house he didn’t use.” Offers he couldn’t refuse — in the ’70s. Photo from GI:
Trivia answer: Welcome Back, Kotter, the song Welcome Back by the Lovin’ Spoonful, ’76. Photos from GI:
Another gorgeous day, though a bit on the cool side. My thanks to my Constant Benefactress, who donated costume jewelry, and to the gentleman who bought what seemed the least attractive piece, a hippie-style necklace; and to the young man who bought 3D art; and to The Frenchman, who purchased a classical CD and The Problems of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell… Waj is back manning his food truck after a long sojourn in his homeland, Pakistan, which he hadn’t visited in 17 years. The wraps are full again-yay!
