My thanks to the young parents who combined to buy eight kids’ books, and to Bill Brown, author of Words and Guitar: A History of Lou Reed’s Music and other fine books, who purchased The Tremendous World I Have Inside My Head: Franz Kafka: A Biographical Essay by Louis Begley; and to the gentleman who rolled up on his bike holding a beautiful acoustic guitar, who asked to buy a canvas shopping bag with long handles in which to carry the instrument.
